Storm Passing, Loon Island

As a plein air painter, I get out to observe and document the landscape and weather at all times of the year. This painting was made on an early July morning at Deering Reservoir, just as the mist was forming from a passing storm. The island hosts a loon nest every year, and this view is one that I revisit frequently. Painted with oil paints on a cradled wood panel.
